Great Britain. Kings of Northumbria. Base AR Sceat, ND (struck c. 830-854). North-186; S-860. 1.21 grams. Eanred, c. 810-840 AD. Small cross at center, + EANRED REX around. Reverse: Small cross at center, + HV[V]AETRED around. Quite decent strike, with only minor reverse weakness, on especially good metal. Attractive and even, medium to deep gray toning. Some hints of mint luster. This issue is sometimes called a styca. NGC graded AU-55.
