India. Kushans. Kanishka I, c. 127-152 AD. Gold Dinar (7.97 g). Kanishka, diademed, and in long tunic and pants, with flames at shoulder, stands left sacrificing over altar; a standard is held in the left hand. Reverse: Shiva, nimbate and standing facing, holds in one of four arms a thunderbolt, a flask, a trident, and the horns of the goat standing to the right; large tamga at lower left; his name, "Oesho," at right in Graeco-Bactrian script. MK 67; Rosenfield 37; cf. Donum Burns 131; cf. MACW 3063, 3064. Well centered and sharply struck, with exceptional detail. Softly lustrous. NGC graded Choice Uncirculated.
