Peru. 8 Escudos, 1752-J (Lima). Fr-16; KM-50. 26.95 grams. Ferdinand VI, 1746-1759. Large bust type. Draped and cuirassed bust of Ferdinand VI right. Reverse: Small crowned Bourbon arms within chain of the Order of the Golden Fleece. Bold, virtually fully struck centers. The reflective fields showing, mostly on the obverse, modest even wear. Rare in this grade. Considered among the finer known. NGC graded MS-61.

This particular design, with the large bust of Ferdinand, was only struck at the Lima mint, and was the first 8 Escudo portrait type produced there. The type was only issued for three years (1751-1753). A very important and highly desirable coin.
