Cannon: "Dear Cousin; Please hand Smith the enclosed ck. which was sent to me some ago to sign…." Fine. Cannon was an LDS bishop. His fourth wife, Martha Maria Hughes Cannon, was a physician, Utah women's rights advocate and suffragist; she became the first female state senator elected in the United States.
