KPM Porcelain Plaque, famous Mengs family. Late 19th century painting on porcelain, marked on reverse "KPM 255_195 D h l". Also handwritten information about the subject, "Rafael Mengs by Mengs". Rafael Mengs was father to A.R. Mengs (1728-1779), the famous German artist and thought by some to be the greatest living painter of his time. This KPM version of the work is in excellent condition, superbly rendered by an expert hand and signed somewhat indistinctly at lower right "F.J.M". Mounted in an original period frame.
