Very Unusual Saxon Or Salesian Stag Horn Stocked Wheelock Pistol With Built-In Powder Flask. Circa early 17th century. 13.5".54 cal. engraved and gilded octagon section to round barrel with a fantastic raised chiseled grotesque mask on top of the breech extending to the engraved/gilt barrel tang. Chiseled and engraved steel furniture. Large panel relief carved stag horn stock depicting warriors, human figures, and foliage. Stock has a built-in powder flask within the wrist/butt with a spring valve. Lock of Tschinke form chiseled/engraved and gilded in-suit with exterior mainspring. 21.5" overall length. In good working order. An extremely rare, possibly unique example in very good condition for age. Ref: see Guns and Rifles of the World by Howard L. Blackmore, 1965, pp. 85-88.
