Poland. 50 Zlotych, 1829-FH. Fr-109; KM-C119; Bitkin First Ed-923. Nicholas I of Russia. Laureate bust of Alexander I right. Reverse: Value and date in wreath. Several scratches and handling marks. Ex-jewelry. Mintage of only 238 pieces. Rare. About Very Fine.

The history of Poland during the 18th and 19th centuries was generally one of partition and destruction of the nation. After Napoleon's defeat, the Congress of Vienna made this destruction official by granting the rule of Poland to Russia. Yet Russia produced very few gold coins making this an important rarity.
