Peru - South Peru. 8 Escudos, 1837-BA (Cuzco). Fr-91; KM-167. Cuzco Federation. Radiant sunface with stars and flags. Reverse: A castle, ship, volcano and cornucopia in wreath. Natural small lamination mark to the right of the sun face. Lightly cleaned. Fully lustrous and prooflike. Rare in this condition. Almost Uncirculated to Uncirculated.

Cuzco, located in southeastern Peru, is a city today of 300,000 people. It is far better known as the capital of the ancient Incan Empire. Located at 11,500 feet, it has one of the highest elevations of any important city in the world.
