Rome. Faustina Senior, wife of Antoninus Pius, d. 141 AD. Gold Aureus (6.93 g), Rome mint, struck after 147 AD. Scarce. Veiled and diademed bust left. Reverse: Ceres, veiled, stands frontal with head left, holding two torches; AVGV - STA. RIC 356d; BMCRE 60, note 417; C. 101; Calicó 1765 (same obverse die). Nicely centered and fully struck up, with very handsome portrait. Appealing soft luster on both sides, with hints of red toning in the recesses. Excellent coin! ICG graded AU-50.
