Kushano-Sasanian. "Varahran," after 350 AD. Gold Dinar (7.66 g), Balkh mint. Nimbate king in military attire, sacrificing left at lit altar from which smoke curls up, and holding trident, trident at left and tamgha at right. Reverse: Shiva facing, with trident and filleted wreath, Nandi bull behind; Bactrian inscription around, all within bead border. Göbl, Kushan MDK, 771; Cribb 1 var. (additional obverse symbol). Nice strike, especially on the reverse, which can be badly blundered. Deeply toned recesses. Extremely Fine plus.
