Kushano-Sasanian. Hormizd I, Kushanshah, c. 270-295 AD. Gold Dinar (7.76 g). Rare with pellets. Nimbate king in military attire, sacrificing left at lit altar from which smoke curls up, and holding trident; trident at left, swastika between legs, pellets in field. Reverse: Shiva facing, with trident and filleted wreath, Nandi bull behind; Bactrian inscription around, all within bead border. Göbl, Kushan MDK, 707 var.; Cribb 4; Carter 27; MACW 1271. Better strike, especially on the obverse. Darkly toned recesses. Extremely Fine.
