1880, $1 United States Note. Serial Number ZI plate position A. . Fr-28. . KL-15. PMG graded Choice Fine 15. This is the very first note of the design! The numbering system started with the letter Z and this was the top positioned note. It is estimated that fewer than one hundred #1 Type Notes are in existence today with many more #1 Nationals known. The reason being that the #1 Nationals were saved by proud bankers but the poor government officials saved very few. A unique find!
The 1880 Aces with the large brown seal have always been a sought-after Type. This particular note, with its superior colors and unique status should likely prove to be a major hit with bidders.
