Lot 2281

1853-O $1 Gold Liberty. NGC graded MS-64. Mostly untoned. Vibrant strong luster flow is noted. A choice New Orleans Mint Type I gold dollar, sharply struck in the main with satin surfaces that blossom with luster. This is one of those instances where "common date" status rapidly yields to scarcity at the Choice Mint State 64 level. As it is, the present beauty is accurately certified by NGC. Careful examination under low magnification reveals a couple of tiny blemishes, but putting these aside, the present coin easily warrants the assigned grade. Pop 38; 12 finer, 10 in 65, 1 in 66, 1 in 67 (PCGS # 7524) .
Estimated Value $4,000 - 4,200.

Realized $7,188
