Lot 2106

1917-S Liberty Standing Quarter Dollar. Type 1. NGC graded MS-67 Full Head. A superb gem glistening with luster and delicately toned. The surfaces possess a vibrancy in tune with its high standing on the grading scale, with rippling velvety texture rather than bright luster frost that is seen on the later dates in the Standing Liberty quarter series. On the heels of such active luster, we are pleased to present a coin faithful to every detail from a full blow by the dies. The design is exceptionally strong. There are no photographs nowadays. Only "camera portraits" and "lens impressions." The allegorical features that you see in the pictures of this handsome quarter dollar are therefore more of an artist's impression of strong patriotic themes elicited by the major societal blow of World War I.
Estimated Value $5,000 - 6,000.
