Lot 1942

1917-S Buffalo Nickel. PCGS graded MS-66. Nice shades of light gold and light blue toning. Nice bold strike. With a extra-sharp strike throughout the design, this coin is obviously in the forefront among '17-S Buffalo nickels that have survived in Mint condition. Also significant are the surfaces, whose satin luster gleams in the near total absence of abrasions. The appearance is one nickel bright iridescence, but we do note a thin swath of copper-tan patina on the reverse in front of the bison's forelegs. Seemingly undergraded even at the premium-quality Gem level, and housed in an older PCGS holder with a yellow-green insert. This conditionally rare example is at the top of the PCGS pop for the issue, and it is certain to see spirited bidding among Registry Set collectors. Pop 22; None finer. (PCGS # 3936) .
Estimated Value $8,500 - 9,000.

Realized $10,350
