Lot 1380

1814 S-295 R1 Plain 4 with Obverse Double Struck. PCGS graded EF-40. Turban Head. Glossy dark chocolate and olive brown mixed with lighter reddish brown, especially on the reverse. Very light roughness covers much of the planchet, mostly in protected areas. No verdigris or contact marks. Double struck. Both strikes were reasonably well centered on the planchet, but the offset was at least a millimeter between the impressions. The obverse shows strong doubling with two dates, 26 stars, and strong doubling on the portrait. The reverse, however, does not show any doubling. Rather it was struck against a new blank planchet on the second strike, thus producing a reverse brockage on the second planchet. The PCGS label mentions the double strike on the obverse. MDS. EAC grade EF40 net VF25.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.

Realized $2,990
