Lot 1036

1794 S-41 R3. VG-10. Sharpness VF20 or slightly better but a small patch of shallow roughness severely weakens the 4 in the date. Traces of very light roughness can also be found elsewhere on both sides, but there is no verdigris. The only notable contact mark is a rim bruise under the 7 in the date. The first 3 digits of the date and all the legends are complete and clear, and the 4, although weakened by roughness as mentioned, is still readable. Recolored a rather glossy chocolate brown with lighter brown highpoints and darker olive in protected areas. M-LDS, Breen state VI.
Estimated Value $400 - 600.
