Lot 1028

1794 S-20 R5 Head of 1793. Fine-15. Sharpness VF30, perhaps a bit better on the reverse thanks to the high rim on that side, but covered with extremely fine roughness under a glossy dark olive and steel patina. No marks or verdigris, only a small spot of shallow chocolate brown scale under the I in AMERICA. A tiny planchet lamination in the dentils before the nose is the best identifying mark on this cent. The obverse is smoother than the reverse and offers nice eye appeal in spite of the imperfect surfaces. The date is bold and the legends are strong. A sharp, attractive example of the popular Head of 1793 type.
Estimated Value $3,000 - 5,000.

Realized $3,450
