Louis, Joe (1914-1982) Heavyweight boxing champion; won 69 of 72 fights, 54 by knockout. He held the heavyweight title longer than anyone else and defended it seven times between December 1940 and June 1941. Vintage photograph signed "Yours Truly, Joe Louis," 10"x8". Another hand has added (To Joe Weisberger) and "June 1941)," the month and year Louis defeated Billy Conn at the Polo Grounds in New York. Fine; light age toning and minor soiling to borders and upper corners. A great period photo showing Louis, attired in gloves and monogrammed trunks, taking a boxing stance.
