Mr. Mattingly was picked in the 19th round of the 1979 Amateur Draft and debuted with the Yankees September 18, 1982. He played his final game October 1, 1995. Mattingly's statistics were impressive---Life time batting average of .307, fielding percentage of .996, and 2,153 hits. His credits and awards were also impressive---6 All-Star games, 1984 Major League Player of the Year, and 1985 American League MVP.
