Mouly, Marcel (French, b. 1918). Table de Jeux à la Mandole Noire. Lithograph. Handsome composition with card table and black mandolin, set within a bar or saloon. Print edition: 175 / 875; signed at lower right; print size: 34" x 25". A few light crinkles are noted about the periphery of the print.

Marcel Mouly was born in Paris in 1918. Consequently his ouvre is heavily influenced by the works of Picasso, Matisse, Braque, and the like. He studied painting at the French Academies and later became the protogé of the sculptor Jacques Lipchitz, who opened his eyes to Cubism. Mouly won the Chevalier de l'Order des Artes et Letteres in 1957, and another Premier Prix for lithography in 1973. Mouly has exhibited worldwide, and his works hang in many institutions and other collections.
