Sheridan, Philip H. Personal Memoirs of P.H. Sheridan. General United States Army. New York: Charles L. Webster and Co., 1888. 2 vol. set, 500 and 486pp. First Edition, no jacket. Brown, half leather covers with gilt trim and lettering; five raised ribs on spine; four gold starts in a box represent Sheridan's rank as a four-star genenral. Cover has gilt image of Sheridan on his horse. Paste-downs are marbled. Frontispiece of Sheridan in both volumes, first as Brevet 2nd Lt., then as Lt. Gen. Vol 1 has an 8" x 7" fold-out map showing the field of operations of the Army of the Cumberland in 1862-63. Vol. 2 has an 18½" x 21½" fold-out map of the Battlefield of Winchester, 19 Sept. 1864. Minor rubbing to spine ends, corners, and book faces. Bindings are tight and text is lightly toned but clean and unmarked.
