Lot 559

Small French or Belgian Cased Percussion Boxlock Pistol, c. 1835-1840. This pistol has a 2".40 calibre round iron barrel with proofs; "CROWN over A*F 38," on the underside of the frame. The iron center frame is engraved with foliage and retains bright blue case colors in protected areas. The trigger is activated and drops down from the frame when the hammer is pulled back The engraved iron butt cap is fitted with a trap door cavity to hold percussion caps. The stock is in fine condition with normal small scratches and dings but retains 90% of the original varnish. The mahogony box measures 6.75" x 4.5" and is lined in white baize, velvet and silk. The top of the box has fine inlaid brass strips with a brass scalloped plate at the center. Accessories include a copper and brass powder flask in excellant condition, and a bullet mold.
