Impressive Brass Barrel Flintlock Blunderbus. Great Britain, c. 1780-1810. The brass barrel half octagonal, and half round, with canon-style muzzle. The octagonal section with clear Birmingham marks, bold "LONDON" stamping, and neat but simple engraved enhancements. The same can be said for the brass trigger guard, with floral arabesques, and well-carved acorn forepart. The steel lock assembly is a period replacement -- likely from a British Light Dragoon or Sea Service pistol. This too with bold markings: "Tower" at left; at center, large crown with "GB" below; and crown-arrow point at right. Stock with attractive basket weave checquering at wrist. Also, to keep in mind: barrel touch-hole re-worked; losses to ramrod pipes; vertical crack in stock at about midpoint; stock revarnished. Gun could use some further modest restorations. Nevertheless, an imposing and very stylish piece of armament, in good working order, from the apogee of British military weaponry. Length: 30"; Barrel, 14-1/8".
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,500.

Realized $2,530
