American Long Rifle -- A Kentucky/Pennsylvania Percussion Shooter. United States, c. 1830-1840. The .40 calibre steel barrel octagonal, with twist rifling. Barrel length: 39". Gun with full stock of American curly maple -- with upper edge splintering and losses, which can be restored. The attractive patch box in brass, with ornate scroll framing; steel and brass sights; the iron lock also with scroll work, which due to old rough surfaces any marks or inscriptions are otherwise unreadable. Length: 53-1/2". A pleasing display piece, and an affordable classic of American arms.
