A Substantial Brass Barrel Flintlock Blunderbus. Anglo-American, c. 1680-1750. The brass barrel half octagonal, graduating into round, with flared muzzle. The brass with early English proof marks, a couple restamped over previous marks(?). The gun was restocked, perhaps in the American Colonies towards the end of the 18th century; and so utilizing a Spanish lock (c. 1750) as a replacement. Other iron hardware includes the butt plate and trigger guard; in brass, the side plate and ramrod plate; along with a stock patch in copper. Length: 34"; Barrel, 19". A rugged, flashy-looking period piece.
