Jimmy Doolittle B-25 Raid on Japan Painting by Reynolds. An original oil on canvas, 20 by 24, nicely framed to an overall size of 26.5 by 30.5, signed at lower right "Reynolds 1976." Handsomely rendered depiction of the historical event, showing Doolittle's B-25 having just taken off from the aircraft carrier Hornet with a guarding destroyer at right.

William J. Reynolds, a self-taught artrist born June 4, 1918, is well known for his avaition paintings and prints. In WW 2, he served in the Army Air Corps as a fighter pilot in P-40s out of New Guinea. He has had many important commissions, notably two each year for the National Congress on Aerospace Education. His prints are sold at the Smithsonian's National Air & Space Museum.
