Great Britain. Order of the League of Mercy Medal. A fine early 20th century specimen in gilt silver and enamels. The League was founded 1899 by Royal Charter of Queen Victoria to form groups of volunteer workers to assist with the maintenance of hospitals. The Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, was its first Grand President. Choice Extremely Fine or better with excellent enamels.
