Superb Spanish American War 1898 Battle of Manila Bay Original Chromolithograph Print. Adramatic naval battle scene with American and Spanish ships firing at each other at point blank range. At lower left, a portrait vignette of Rear Admiral Dewey, soon to be a great national hero, with image title to right. The caption at the bottom sheet edge reads "Fought May 1st by Rear Admiral Dewey, Spanish loss 11 ships, 150 killed, 250 wounded, American loss, none." 15.75" x 11", with maker imprint "No. 1209 Copyrighted 1898 By Muller, Luchsinger & Co. New York." A bit of damp-staining at upper right edge and less so at upper left edge, all well outside the image, otherwise very good condition with bright coloring and most suitable for framing.
Estimated Value $250 - 450.
