Late 19th Century 7th New York Officer's Fore & Aft Hat. A ca. 1880s militia officer's hat of the 7th New York National Guard in beaver fur and ostrich plumes with a satin edged brim. On the right side a gold bullion braided badge of the 7th NY with brass National Guard button and gold bullion tassels at front and back. The inside crown of aqua satin with a silver maker imprint as "Henry V. Allien & Co. Military Goods 7 Bond Street New York". Some light chipping to the intact leather sweat band and wear to the beaver fur where handled during use, otherwise good condition and scarce.
