British Military Light Dragoon Flintlock Service Pistol, circa 1770-1780. This pistol has a 9".67 calibre round iron barrel, with Tower arsenal proofs; "CROWN over GR over BROAD ARROW"and two "CROWN over CROSSED SEOTERS" marks. Lock is marked on the tail of the lock plate; "KETLAND & CO," (Tower of London contract maker) and "CROWN over GR" in front of the cock. The lock and barrel have a dark brown to black age rust patina. The initials "FR" are carved in the left side of the stock. Brass regulation furniture retaining a lovely untouched dark olive patina. The stock has an old repair at the muzzle where the stock cracked then was mended. A very nice example of one of the most popular British military pattern flintlock pistols that may have been used in the American Revolutionary War. In good working order.
Estimated Value $2,000 - 3,000.
