Cornelius Ryan - W.W.II Medals and Badges (June 5, 1920-Nov. 23, 1974). Was an Irish journalist and author mainly known for his writings on popular military history, especially W.W.II. His two best known books are The Longest Day (1959), which tells the story of the D-Day invasion of Normandy, and A Bridge Too Far (1974), which tells the story of Operation Market Garden, the ill-fated assault by airborne forces on the Netherlands culminating in the battle of Arnhem. Both books were made into major motion pictures, in 1962 and 1977, respectively.

Offered here are Ryan's personal military campaign medals and stars, clasps and medals, insignias, ribbons and his war correspondent's patches, etc. Also included is a Zippo lighter presented by Commander U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Also included is his 1939-45 Star for Battle of Britain, his Pacific Star for Burma, France & Germany Star and War Medal 1939-45 Oak leaf. Lot of 45 items.
