Schley, Winfield Scott (1839-1911) American admiral who commanded action resulting in the destruction of the Spanish fleet at Santiago de Cuba. Collection of three items, all signed "W.S. Schley": an AQS beginning "Know thyself," dated Feb. 17, 1911, a TLS, n.d. saying he will send seaweed and sea mud samples from an undisclosed location; and an 1899 ALS to a lady, remembering a visit to Pueblo, Colorado.
