Macedonian Kingdom. Alexander III, the Great, Posthumous AR Tetradrachm (16.69 g), Mesembria mint, c. 155-110 BC. Posthumous AR Tetradrachm (16.69 g), Mesembria mint, c. 155-110 BC. Civic issue. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Reverse: Zeus enthroned left, holding eagle; beneath hand, at left, Corinthian helmet, MA below; KO monogram below throne. Price 1077; Callatay Group 2 (D2 / but unlisted reverse die). Well detiled strike; faintly toned and lustrous (overstruck on uncertain coin). A very handsome example from this mint's later issues. Choice Extremely Fine.
