Macedonian Kingdom. Alexander III, the Great, 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.01g), Babylon mint, struck 317-311 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin. Reverse: Zeus enthroned left, holding eagle; to left, wreath with MYP monogram within; with AX monogram below throne. Price 3722. Sharp strike, with handsome high relief Herakles. Lightly toned; minor graffiti on reverse. Also, Pamphylia; Aspendus, c. 400-370 BC., AR Stater (10.97 g): Two wrestlers grappling, pellet below, with owl & "lotus" counterstamps in field / Slinger to right; triskeles in field, and barley grain(?) below (cf. SNG von Aulock 4515 & 4518, for owl counterstamp). Attractive, nicely struck wrestlers -- deeply toned. Lot of 2 coins. Choice Very Fine.
