Lot 3119

1937-D Oregon Trail Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-67. Well struck with a hint of light toning. In an old green label holder. Ice-cold white color covers the fields of this handsome coin, the ultimate in pristine beauty, and a very attractive Oregon Trail commemorative half dollar. Denver Mint was the only mint that struck Oregons in 1937. It appears that, with reduced coinage requirements, the Treasury Department spread-the-work around the various mints during the Depression to keep everyone occupied, even if at a reduced level. (In 1936, Oregons were struck at Philadelphia and San Francisco only.) Pop 499; 39 finer (PCGS # 9347) .
Estimated Value $500 - 525.

Realized $546
