It has been estimated that about 300 to 550 examples are known of 1803 BB-254 Small 3 variety, placing it squarely in the scarce or rare class. Most specimens are in lower grades, with Very Fine being about par. Examples exist through and including the AU categories, this lovely About Uncirculated 50 a strong contender for any Bust dollar date and variety set (PCGS # 6900) .
