1847/7 N-31 R5 Large 7 over Small 7. EF-40. Sharper by at least 5 points but very lightly cleaned and retoned frosty medium brown and chocolate with hints of reddish tan showing through in protected areas, especially on the reverse. Some faint hairlines remain from the cleaning, and a more complete retoning should raise the net grade a bit. MDS, die state c. The repunching at the 1 and 47 remains clear, especially the so-called small 7 showing at the top of the normal 7. Tied for CC#8.
