Egypt. Ptolemaic Kings. Ptolemy VI or Ptolemy VIII, 180-116 BC. Gold Octadrachm, Alexandria mint. Commemorative issue for Arsinoe II (d. 275 BC.). Veiled head of Arsinoe II right, wearing stephane, ram's horn at ear, lotus-tipped scepter over shoulder; K in left field. Reverse: Filleted double cornucopiae; name and title around. Svoronos 1498; SNG Cop. 322; Troxell, Arsinoe, p. 67, 8. Very well centered and struck, on nice round flan. With delicate and attractive red toning in areas. The style a bit softer and "fleshier" than the previous coin. ICG graded EF-45.
