Calabria. Tarentum, c. 272-240 BC. AR Nomos (6.28 g). Nude warrior, with shield and spears, on galloping horse right; ΔI behind, magistrate's name below in two lines. Reverse: Taras astride dolphin left, holding kantharos in extended hand, trident in other; ethnic below, female head at right. Vlasto 877. Bold, wonderfully sharp strike on flan of excellent metal. Fully lustrous, with dark hoard patina, somewhat lighter and iridescent in areas. A very fine coin! Superb Extremely Fine.
