1872 Shield Nickel. NGC graded Proof 67. Gorgeous light rainbow toning on both sides. Superb swirling prooflike luster rounds out this coin's list of memorable attributes in that department. Most shield nickels of this date are inadequately struck; some are a trifle better; and collectors, true to their tradition, wish that all could be like this razor-sharp example exhibiting perfect detail to all the high points.
