Lot 4152

Sweden. Ducat, 1675. Fr-43; KM-277. 3.47 grams. 23.19 mm. Charles XI, 1660-1697. Laureate head facing left. Leg: CAROLVS XI D - G REX SVECIAE Reverse: Crown above two interlocking C's with crowns at the sides, crown and date at the bottom. Leg: FACTVS EST DOMINVS PROTECTOR MEVS ("I have made the Lord my Protector"). A superb mint fresh example of this early Swedish ducat. Rare type and very rare this nice. NGC graded MS-66.

Charles had just recently been declared of age after a long regency when this coin was minted. He was just nineteen. Unfortunately for Charles, during his regency the Swedish parliament took back much of the power that his father had acquired for the crown. This is an amazing specimen of this type.
Estimated Value $12,500 - 15,000.

Realized $17,250
