Latvia (Riga). Ducat, 1673. Fr-18; KM-76 (Livonia); Ahl-103. 3.46 grams. 22.80 mm. Under Swedish Occupation, 1621-1721. Carl XI, 1660-1697. Kings bust right within beaded inner circle. Leg: CAROLUS.D:G.SVEC.GOTH.VAND REX Reverse: City arms dividing date. Leg: MONETA AUREA CIVIT RIGENSIS. Very Rare. NGC graded AU-58.

Latvia, a small state in the Baltic area was conquered by Gustav Adolph of Sweden and remained a Swedish possession until 1710. The towers of the city are portrayed on the reverse. Very few gold coins were struck there, and this is a major rarity.
