Bavaria. Ducat, 1678. Fr-213; KM-103. 3.51 grams. 21.64 mm. Ferdinand Maria, 1651-1679. Armored elector standing facing left with baton in right hand and left hand on helmet on pedestal. Leg: F.M.V.B&P.S.D.C.P - R.S.R.I.AR.EL.L.L. Reverse: Madonna and child with angels above view of Munich in inner circle. Leg: +NI.DN.CVST.O.CIVIT.FRVST.VIGIL.QVI.CVSTODIT.EAM. A visually stunning example. Very Rare. NGC graded MS-62 Prooflike.

Ferdinand Maria is rememberd for introducing the baroque era to his duchy (thanks to the contributions of his Italian wife), and establishing the rule of absolutism as a model for the rest of the German states. He produced few coins adding to the value of this piece. A great looking baroque influenced ducat.
