Lot 3304

Great Britain. Crown, 1746. S.3689; ESC-125. George II, 1727-1760. Old laureate draped bust of King. Reverse:Crowned cruciform shields with roses in angles. Raised edge lettering. DVODECIMO NONO. The word LIMA below the (obverse) bust denotes that the coin was famously made from silver seized by Admiral Anson (during his circumnavigation of the globe 1740-1744) and other privateers. This coin has a pleasing mellow grey/blue tone over flashes of original luster. It would make a formidable addition to a quality collection of British crown coins. NGC graded MS-61.
Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,500.

Realized $3,335
