Aelius, as Caesar, 136-138 AD. Gold Aureus (7.33 g), Rome mint, struck 137 AD. Very Rare, especially in this quality. Bearded, bare head left. Reverse: Pietas right, draped and veiled, holds a box of incense over a garlanded altar; PIE - TAS, TRIB POT COS II. RIC 444c; BMCRE 1004; Calico 1449; C. 42; Hill 774; Hurter 15 (this coin). Sharply and fully struck on slightly tight flan. Beautifully detailed and lustrous. The magnificent high relief portrait humane and dignified. Superb Extremely Fine.
