Nero, 54-68 AD. AE Sestertius, Rome mint, struck c. 65 AD. Laureate bust of Nero right, drapery at left shoulder. Reverse: Roma seated left on cuirass and shields; RIC 273 var.; BMCRE 173. Finely centered and sharply struck, with excellent portrait. Lovely green smooth patina, but with areas of roughness or brass showing (mostly on reverse). In addition, a Sestertius of Trajan, Rome, c. 103-111 AD.: Laureate bust right, drapery at left shoulder / Fortuna standing left, holding rudder and cornucopia, prow of ship behind; RIC 500c. Coin like previous, with splendid obverse, but reverse somewhat rough. Inspection suggested, but both fine portrait studies. Lot of 2 coins. Portrait sides Choice Very Fine, or better.
