Syria, Seleucid Kingdom. Seleukos I Nikator, 312-280 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.11 g), Babylon mint. Struck in the name of Alexander III, the Great, of Macedon, c. 311-300 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Reverse: Zeus enthroned left, holding eagle; MI at left, MYΘ monogram below throne. Price 3751; Houghton/Lorber SC, 82.4a. Sharp full strike, with medium russet-gray toning. Detailed, delightful Herakles portrait in very high relief. Choice Extremely Fine.
