1862 Pattern Eagle. Copper, reeded edge. . J-297. . P-355. PCGS graded Proof 64 Brown. A pleasing example housed in a first generation holder. Luminous copper-brown surfaces typical of this well-made Pattern. Desirable with this precision strike on Liberty's coronet, hair, hair bun, and the surrounding stars. Similar precise detail found on the eagle, shield, and legends. Judd-297 is from the regular dies for the gold $10 this year, but the reverse has the motto GOD OUR TRUST on a scroll above the eagle. (Some Judd-297 pieces are on "bronzed" planchets.) Pop 9; 5 in 65. Low Rarity 6 (PCGS # 60447) .
