(James A. Garfield). Contemporary framed memoriam to the assassinated President. A large finely printed (by the Bureau of Engraving & Printing) invitation to a memorial service held on February 27, 1882, five months after his death, is set into an ornate black velvet-lined frame. Above, is the darkened remains of a U.S. five cents stamp bearing Garfield's image. The antique frame shows slight chips and modest corner damage, but overall is quite good. Size: 13-1/2" x 17-1/4".
